I'm looking for some logic on the way skinning is taught on this website. Especially for a total newbie. The first lesson under 'Skinning Tutorials' is about making edits to the Nav2 menu. Where am i supposed to look to find a step-wise lesson plan that uses current information for DNN 5.x and not something totally outdated for DNN versions from 4 years ago????? The lesson plans for learning skinning seem to jump all over the place, again, if i'm not looking in the right place - which is my question, where in all of this does one start???

If you browse the list of issues, start with the first skinning tutorials, as they start at the beginning.  But, you'll want to jump forward since DNN5 is a bit different than older versions.

I'd recommend that you look at these:
But that you then look at these:
After that, you should be able to go back and look at the others and, at the same time, be able to figure out what no longer applies.  The tutorials that focus on pure CSS skins and the ascx approach to skinning will likely prove more useful.

The tutorials have been designed to be viewed in issue number order as each issue builds on the knowledge from previous issues. We first looked at skinning here:
    Issue no 5 and 6

and from there as Joe suggests you should be able to skip to areas that you need. Even though some of these skinning tutorials are for earlier versions, all of the techniques still apply for DNN 5, they have just introduced some new features into DNN 5.

One thing to be aware of is that earlier versions used the SolPart Menu whereas now it is recommended to use the NAV Menu which comes with DNN 5, Joe has linked to those menu tutorials above.

    Thanks,
