In the process of following SEO "rules" I was curious how I could add "nofollow" tags for comments on my blog. And how could I add an alt text for images in my skin. I love how DNN makes it easy to do this for uploaded pictures, but for the random gif buttons in the skin I would like to figure out how. Thanks for any ideas.

For the links, add rel=”nofollow” in the tags. If this is part of a module's content, use the link tool in the editor, or switch to source mode and edit the html directly.

For alt text, add alt="your text here" in the img tags. If the tags are part of your skin, the easiest way to do this is by editing the skin file.

Joe, Thanks again for your help. The edit comment for this module doesn't give me an editor. Is it possible to get into the source somehow and add it the old fashioned way without the editor(which isn't there)? Also, can I edit the skin file on the server, or is that the type of thing that I need to do locally, then upload the updated skin file?

I have not used this module.  You might want to ask the developer how to do it.

Do you have the source code for the module?  If you do and your license permits, you might be able to do it.  But I doubt that it is likely.
