Hello,

I've just upgraded a live website from 4.9.2 to 5.2.1 using the upgrade package, the upgrade completed successfully, but when navigating to the site the menu is no longer displayed and the Login and Register links no longer work.

The solution, press CTRL + F5 to reload the page and clear the cache, this will load in the new menu and the correct login and register links.

Hope this helps,
Lee Sykes

did you press ctrl + F5

If so, what is the error you received?

Did you upgrade with the dotnetnuke upgrade package?

Do you have a backup from before you upgraded?

I'm not seeing errors with Firefox, IE8, or IE8 in compatibility mode.  I looked at the home page and clicked the login link.  In all cases I get to the login page.   I was able to Register, and I logged in and out successfully.

I've Just tested it in Firefox and IE8 and I can view the menu and register and log in as well.

All I can suggest is you clear the cookies and cache from your browsers and see if that helps,

Thanks,

Lee and I both have managed to visit your site, register and login.  So, I'd guess that there is something wrong with your browser.  Have you tried Lee's suggestion?

Don't reload the OS.  That's not needed.

What is that message a response to?

As we still are trying to figure out what the problem is, I don't know how to fix it.

It is true that reinstalling the OS on your computer may do the trick, but that seems an excessive step.  Have you tried a browser other than IE?

Definitely something wrong.

(A virus infection that you can't otherwise figure out IS a good reason to wipe and reinstall.  See Lee's notes about using virtual machines, too.)
