Hello Lee,

I have a problem with DNN 5 Forum module. How can I prevent some users from creating a new thread or doing a reply or post? I have tried modifying the Edit Module permission but it seems like it is not working.

you will need to look at the moderation settings in the forum module, rather than giving users edit permissions

I need to be able to allow content managers to add/update content on the website, but I don’t want them to have access to the actual Module settings.

ie. the page includes an Announcements module, and the content managers should be able to ‘Add new announcement’ , but not click Settings and be able to access the settings of the module which is occurring at the moment.

 

1. I have created a Security Role ‘content managers’, and added a ‘user account’ to this role.

2. On the page that the module resides on, I have set the Edit Page permissions to Allow for ‘content managers.

3. I have then gone into the Announcements module Settings, and set the Edit Module permission to Deny for ‘content managers’.

 

The user is still able to click Settings and access the Announcements module Settings.

 

How can I prevent a user from accessing the actual Module settings but still add content to the page?

ok do it this way:

Page Settings: Do not give anyone edit page permissions or deny permissions
Announcement module settings: give edit permissions just to Content Managers


This will give them access to add announcements and that's all.

If you give a user edit permissions to a page it opens up more settings for them

Thanks that worked. Sorry for late reply - I've been out of action for a few weeks.

I'm trying to allow my content editors to upload new documents via link, announcement, html pro modules but they do not get the "upload new document". I have set them to full control in File Manager but still not able to. Any ideas? This is a major issue, what am I missing.

i just want to know about the module permission .
following are some assumption form me ,please correct if it goes to wrong.
- If User assign Edit Module permission for particular module then user can edit the module setting page. but this is not happening.
if i want to assign the edit module permission (user can see the only module setting ) to module what change i want made in my module .

please help us .....
