How and where would I include psd files for packaging with the skin, with intention of selling?

    Thank you.

The psd file(s) and possibly other files presumably are not needed for installation, but are "support" files that someone might use to modify the skin.

I would create a zip file that includes the installable zip file together with any other files that you want to distribute.  Instruct the users to unzip this file to get the installable zip file.  Some modules that I have acquired have, for example, versions of the module for DotNetNuke versions 4.x and 5.x.  They are zipped into a single file called something like MyModule-UnzipMeFirst.zip.

I am working through this tutorial using DNN 5.6. But I am getting stuck on the HOST extension wizard (yes I am in edit mode). Here is the problem. I click on the pencil next to the skin I wish to update the information about. When on the Configure ... Extension Settings page the only option that I have to change is the Skin Package name. I cannot update any other information about the skin. What I am missing? Thanks for your help. LaNaya

That is the only thing that you can edit on that page.  What is it that you want to change?

In the tutorial, it walks you through how you can change all the package details about the skin. But I cannot do the initial steps that the the tutorial says that one can. Granted I was following the steps on a skin that is ours and it is on an upgraded version of DNN not a clean install. When I did use the tutorial sample skin on a local host clean install, I could change the details, but it would then throw an error on update...so could not ever save the changes.

My goal in all of this is to migrate our skins to the new format that is in DNN 5 since we are still running on older versions of skins. Perhaps I don't even need to be doing this step...

The skins thumbnails are not showing up in my skin editor. I am running DotNetNuke Version: 05.06.02 (144) . Even the default skin thumbnails are not visible. The thumbnails are located in the skin folder. Any ideas?

Make sure the files are named correctly.

Can you view the thumbnails is you specify the full URL?
