Hi All,

Currently we have single DNN installation with multiple sites in it. Some of them are created as parent, child portal. Recently we are facing logout issue on child portals for admin and registered user (not host users). When any Admin/Registered user logs in, in child site and try to perform any action e.g. edit any module or navigate to any page or even refresh the page, he gets logged out .

Points to note:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->We are using DotNetNuke version 4.8.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Currently we have faced this issue for Pashto and Dari language child sites.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->Prior to this we never faced this kind of problem for any child language sites including Portuguese, French and Arabic.

Initial Observation:

<!--[if !supportLists]-->·         <!--[endif]-->We also observer that for user with same username (profile) exists on both parent and child sites this issue doesn’t occur.

Thanks in advance,

Hari

I've not seen this before, and I do have several sites set up as child sites.  You might want to ask on the DotNetNuke forum about this.

I recommend PowerDNN for DotNetNuke Hosting.

Hi Hari / Joe, I have only been using DNN for a couple of weeks and have already come across this bug.  I found references to it dating back to 2006.

From the above links it is clear that there is a very big bug that affects many users.  If you don't get it you are lucky but that could change.

In my case the user gets logged out as soon as they click on the standard store module page of a child portal.

If a user with the same name is created in the parent portal the problem immediately dissappears.

Delete the corresponding user in the parent portal and the problem is back.

I am now running 4.9.5.

I would appreciate it if someone can tell me if this bug is going to be fixed or if it has been swept under the carpet.

It appears to me that if one wishes to run DNN reliably then you shouldnt use child portals at all.
