I'm sure the problem is with my ability to follow instructions.
I modified my skin to get Web and Site radio buttons. I do have an Adsense account
and inserted my own pub id as shown in the videos.

Problem 1 is that when I do I web search, I do get Google search results but there are no ads. Why aren't
there any ads?

Problem 2 is that when I set UseDropDownList="True" I did not get a drop down list.

I am content to leave the site without a dropdown list but wonder why there are no ads.

1) What version of DNN are you using?
Have you set the correct code in the Languages Editor:

http://www.google.com/custom?q=[...OMAIN]

From this code it is just pub-9770992166002654 that you should change

Perhaps try using this default value above and see if the ads begin displaying as a test?

2) What version of DNN? This is for v4.9+
