I had a few sites on their server. The email through DNN never worked, nor were they able to ever help me with it.
plus their server was always very slow and they had a ton of customers that did a great job at crahing the others... I DO NOT RECOMMND THIS HOST.
If you sign up they will spam you on a constant basis reminding you to sign up again with them. There is no way to unsubscribe... absolutely unprofessional.
    Cheap though.

Any good hosting company to recommend?  Currently, I have a DNN4/ASP.NET 2.0 site running with dotnetpark.  Installation is a snap and its new admin panel/statistics are very good. It is supposed to be among the best in business but I find my site very slow and unstable.  Ton of exceptions in log everyday for no apparent reason.  The log also indicated the application started/shutdown numerous times.  I think the cultprit is that their SQL server is too busy, causing all kind of chaos.  Perhap the whole platform is not stable enough yet in a hosting environment.  I don't know but am thinking to find an alternative hosting for comparsion purpose.

Ideally, I prefer a hosting company with phone support (if needed) and enterprise level reliability and support.  Not a one-liner response like dotnetpark.  When I emailed them my site was down,  they came back with something like "Check it out.  It is now fixed." with no explanation whatsoever.  Well, at least they acted quick whenever the site became inaccessible.

I use discountasp.net....they are not so 'discount' if you only want a minimal and cheap site...but for a small company they charge USD240/year including 50 email boxes, 100MB sql server space, 750MB file space. This is more than enough for a small company and if you are slightly larger they sell extras at very reasonable prices.

For people who want a truely 'discount' provider I'd suggest enom.com where you can buy your mailboxes in packs of 10 and you can host many portals on the one site....I use discountasp.net to host many portals but that has the problem that I do not offer email with these sites...

I'm currently with WebHost4Life. Looking to change providers. WH4L servers are slow, and now they want to charge me extra for ASP.NET 2.0 AFTER I renewed for a third year.

I have good experience from webhost4life. My DNN site works just fine as well as the email part. Speed is fast. I am hosting close to 10 dnn site on it now and still good. I definately suggest Webhost4life to host DNN.

I do also have an account with discountasp.net but it's not any faster compare to webhost4life and yes, it does cost more with Discountasp.net. But i'll keep 2 account just incase one goes bad =)

One of the problems with WH4L are all of their hidden costs. For example, today I tried to point a domain at a sub folder and got this:

ATTENTION, since your domain name was pointed to ROOT for free, changing your path will incur a charge of $15/year fee. If you agree, please simply continue to proceed.

I have no problem with WH4L charging fees like that. What I have a problem with is that they don't let you know what these fees are before you sign up. No where on their web site does it give you any indication of what these fees will be. They will also charge you $10/year (I think) if you want to add email to any of your extra domains.

My other host is 1&1. When you tabulate and compare them against WH4L they look like they are priced about the same. However, 1&1 include everything in the advertised price so there are no hidden surprises.

As I mentioned. WH4L can charge those fees but they shouldn't deceive consumers by hiding the prices or not giving us access to all the costs before we sign up. How can I trust WH4L when they do things like that?

I am new to DNN and WebHost4Life.
You need the ADVANCED HOSTING to have DNN.
I have mixed feelings about WH4L so far. Their servers do seem very slow at times - and crash a couple of times a day for me.
So far I haven't managed to get the Newsletter/bulk email working from DNN through WH4L, I get an email that says the bulk mail was sent, but as I registered myself twice with my portal to check it while setting it up, I know it didn't as I didn't receive it on either of my email addresses (one hotmail, one another domain I own)
I will be looking to move hosts if my site ever gets popular (... er, after if it ever goes live)

I just started using Webhost4life and the control panel, live chat support and help seems OK. The download of DNN4 was very slow and even the help line staff thought it was slow and suggested that I use DNN3. My site seems slow when I first log on and then speeds up. I hope it does not persist. How does one know if it the server or the program that is slow?

What is your DNN web site URL? Try "racing" it against another DNN site hosted on WebHost4Life. This one is mine: www.headvert.com
If you let us know your URL then I can also race the 2 and see how they do against each other.

The reason your site might be slow, then speeds up... could be because it's not cached in the servers memory. You can use a type of "keep alive" service that it's your site every 5-15 minutes to keep it cached, and loaded so when a user hits the site they don't get that initial "slowness". We use host-tracker.com. I think I read about this on here @ DNN Creative.

I dropped WH4L because it was slow and one day I noticed my database had just disappeared. Not a good thing when running DNN. Seems things just don't work so well without it. Now I still get spam from them saying you are -181 days before your site expires. Because it was a test site I never moved it elsewhere. But I'm currently checking into hosts. So far ihostasp looks most promising for my next potential site.

i have been three years now with WH4L and they are great, ok sometimes they are slow but with a mulit domain service for 10 bucks is really cheap,
all their SQL servers are both 2000 and 2005, and migtatiON is for free,
i know the 15$ for to setup an email domain account is normal, do not expect to get a multi domain host for a mere 5$, too good to be true
all those who complain about WH4L are comparing a 10$ with a 50$ with another host, obviously the higher price tag will be better, it is logical
another complain i read was WH4L termianted the servce cuz he had 4 GB day transfer,
i think it is unfair for somebody to eat up all the bandwidth on a share enviroment and only pay 10 bucks
if the site has 4GB he shud get himself a dedicated server and not run it cheap!

I've used these guys for a year - and the functionality has been good, but the performance (from the UK) has been poor.

I've used these guys to monitor my site access for a few weeks now - the 'average' load time on my test DNN page is 7 secs, and it regularly goes over 25 secs - I've had loads of comments from my users that it's 'very' slow to load.

    http://site24x7.com/login/status.do...=%23FFFFFF

I tried the same test on a test page hosted with M6.net and the average load time over a week was just over a second, which is much more acceptable. I don't know whether this is truly a fair measure of performance, but I can't think of any other way to compare hosts?

Wow ! Dude ! Your site is fast!
I know you posted your little challenge almost a year ago, but trying to "race" against your site now would be like trying to race a beam of light.  You loaded for me (first time Id ever been there) within about 1 second.  Google isnt that fast.

... you sure you're running DNN on Webhost4life?  I would be embarrased for you to even see how slowly my webhost4life site loads sometimes.

WH4L is the slowest host with non-existing support. They offer lots of space, but servers are soooo slow!
